Historical Perspective. With a large population of immigrant and refugee students, Foster High School is known as one of the most diverse comprehensive high schools in the nation. Students at the school hail from 51 nations and speak 44 different languages. The school has historically suffered with test scores and graduation rates, but over the past four years, the school has made a striking turnaround after major changes in staff, leadership, atmosphere, and curriculum.
A Time for Change. As the staff and administration worked to improve student performance, it became clear that the facility was also lacking. The architect was selected for the modernization and addition to Foster High School to create a state-of-the-art learning facility to support the education of the diverse student population. The new classrooms will focus on STEAM/career oriented class spaces, with science and math labs, technical classrooms, and an art studio.
